Hayden, the Artist

I have posted some of Hayden's beautiful artwork on my blog, but this tops it. I was cleaning up his toys tonight and noticed that he decided to display his artistic ability on the fireplace hearth. Thankfully the crayons are washable. From now on color time will be supervised. I am impressed that he colored around Elmo and Tigger. That's my boy!

Alum Rock Park

We had another beautiful weekend in California that we decided to go for a hike in Alum Rock Park yesterday. We bought this book "Best Hikes with Children" for the San Francisco Bay Area and so far every hike that we have been on has been wonderful. Of course the sign at the entrance to the trails made me a bit nervous. Posted was the last sighting of a mountain lion and to watch for rattle snakes. I told Trever from now on we are hiking with a big stick or hiking pole so that I can make myself feel somewhat better.

HAPPY EARTH DAY!

Today I just wanted to wish everyone a HAPPY EARTH DAY!

Hayden looked so adorable in his "Take a Hike" earth day t-shirt that I just had to post it for everyone to see.

Happy Birthday Dad

Today is my father's 60th birthday. I just wanted to wish him a very Happy Birthday. I love you dad. Hayden misses his Granddad and he loves you very much.

This picture was taken at our house on Christmas day.

Blowing Bubbles

Today was a really pretty afternoon so Hayden and I played with his Diego bubble blower outside. He loved chasing the bubbles around and was blowing bubbles with Diego.

Bye Bye Nee Nee

This morning I drove my mom and her cousin, Clayrene, to the airport for their flight back home to Kentucky. When mom was checking in curbside, Hayden just cried and cried after her. He would put his head into his little hands and just cry. Of course this made my mom cry.

He will get to see his Nee Nee in June when we come home for his birthday. Hayden isn't the only one missing her. It has been such a blessing having my mom out here in California for a visit. My mom, my sister and I are so very close and I miss them dearly.

Trip to Napa

Yesterday was the perfect day for our trip to Napa. The weather was just wonderful. Here are a few photos of our trip to the wine country.

View from the top of Sterling Winery. You had to take a gondola lift to the top where the winery sits. The view from the top was breath taking.

View of Castello di Amorosa winery from the top of Sterling Winery. This winery is shaped like a castle.

The vineyards are just blooming. By September the vines will be full of grapes.

Enjoying the Beach and Sunny California

Yesterday was such a beautiful day that Trever and I wanted to drive Mom and Reney down the coast to Half Moon Bay and Pigeon Point Lighthouse. Here are a few photos of our day enjoying the beach.

The wind was blowing so hard but it was still a beautiful afternoon.

Washing off our beach toys. The water was SO COLD but it didn't phase Hayden one bit.

Alcatraz Island

On our tour to San Francisco on Friday, our first stop was to Alcatraz Island. Alcatraz Island first served as a Lighthouse, a Military Fort, a Military Prison and then a Federal Prison until 1963. Here are a few pictures of our trip to The Rock. We were so glad that Hayden slept the entire tour of the prison.

Making our way to the main Cellhouse.

This corridor was called Broadway. It was the main corridor that all prisoners were brought into the prison to their cells.

What a typical cell would look like.

Coming out of "The Hole" in Cell Block D. It was so chilly on this side of the prison. It was so odd walking into the cell and closing your eyes to experience what the prisoners would have felt.

Tour of San Francisco

On Friday we took a tour of San Francisco. We couldn't have asked for a better day. The weather was just perfect. Hayden was such a little trooper. Here are just a few of the photos we took throughout the day.
