Birthday

Today is my 33rd Birthday. After a certain age your birthday begins to feel like any other day. As you get older your "gifts" tend to change. My gifts are Trever and Hayden. I am truly blessed to have such a wonderful husband and beautiful little boy. I thank the Lord each day for them.

My first present of the day, my son allowed his mom to sleep in. Usually Hayden wakes up around 6:15 a.m. and I usually do not get him out of his bed until 7:00 a.m. This morning I heard him around 5:45 a.m. and I am assuming he went back to sleep because I didn't hear him again until 7:30 a.m. He sat and played quietly in his bed until 8:00 a.m. Great start to mom's birthday. Trever cooked us all blueberry pancakes and fixed hot chocolate.

Time for the presents. Hayden got mom a great pair of Teva sandals and Trever got me a pair of North Face hiking pants that unzip to shorts. So far it has been a great birthday.

Tonight Trever and I are having our first date night since Christmas. A lady that Trever works with is going to watch Hayden for a couple of hours. She has two adorable kids so I know Hayden will have a blast at her house. I think we are going to the movies. We haven't been to the movies since December.

Thank you to all of my friends and family who have sent cards and birthday wishes. We are looking forward to seeing everyone next week on our trip back home to Kentucky.

Friday Night Concert

In the summer, every Friday there is a concert in a park just off of main street. Tonight we went to support the sons of a lady that Trever works with. Hayden enjoyed listening and dancing to the music.

Civil War Battle and Encampment - Memorial Day Weekend

This weekend we attended the Civil War reenactment in Felton, CA at the Roaring Camp. A guy that Trever's boss knows mans two of the many cannons for the Virginia 1st Division. He invited us to spend the night at their camp and enjoy the festivities. We all had a great time. Everyone was so nice. They enjoyed having people with a "southern" accent in their camp. Made it a little authentic.

This was the kitchen at their camp. The food was awesome. It was amazing that he could cook like that over a fire. The biscuits in the dutch oven put Cracker Barrel's biscuits to shame.

Sunset State Beach - Memorial Day Weekend

Sunday night we spent the night at Sunset State Beach in Watsonville, CA (just south of Santa Cruz). I was concerned at first because of the fires in the Santa Cruz Mountains, but we didn't have any problems. Our campsite was really close to the beach. We could hear the waves crashing at night. It was so nice. Hayden had a great time playing with Diego and playing on the beach Monday morning.

Getting the campsite ready for dinner. Our tent is the Yellow and Silver one.

Hayden sleeping in our tent. He was as snug as a bug in a rug.

Hayden loved playing in the sand.

He got really tired and would just lay in the sand. It was too cute.

Family Picture

Earlier this month I convinced Trever to go and take a family portrait. There were tons of pictures to pick through, but only two were good enough to purchase. Hayden doesn't sit long enough to take more than one good shot.

Happy Father's Day...Early

This is Trever's Father's Day Gift...early. Trever has been wanting a Road Bike for some time now. We received a coupon in the mail this past week so he had to jump on the good deal. Of course he couldn't just purchase the bike. There was the new helmet, bike shorts, shirt, shoes, clip pedals for the shoes, special socks, etc.

The Next "Top Chef"

The Pleasanton Mom's Club has a huge membership and on their website they have a chatroom just for members. I have been looking for a kitchen set for Hayden. One that isn't too girly. He loves to pretend to cook. I posted a search for a toddler kitchen set on the chatroom yesterday. One mother had this kitchen set for sale. It is made in Maine from a company called Elves and Angels. It is solid wood. It is unfinished, which is nice because I can sand it down and finish it. I was amazed at how much a brand new one was going for on the internet. She only charged me $25. She had gotten it for her son when he was Hayden's age and now he is about 4 or 5. Another mother replied to my request with a bag full of kitchen toys for $10. I was shocked at the amount of kitchen toys. I went to the Dollar Tree to get some toy bins to hold all of the kitchen toys. Hayden is having a ball with his new kitchen. Watch out Bobby Flay!

First Time Camping

Happy Mother's Day!

Being a mother means so much to me. Especially being a Christian mother. The Lord has blessed me so very much. I am truly humble. With every hug, every kiss, every smile, every cry, I am thankful each and every day.

This past weekend we went camping at Del Valle Regional Park with Trever's boss, Gus and his son, Diego. Del Valle Regional Park is only about a 30 minute drive from our house. It was mine and Hayden's first time tent camping. I remember camping as a child, but it was at the Kentucky Horse Park in a camper. We had a lot of fun. The weather was so nice. Hayden had a blast. We went for a hike after setting up camp. The hike was not kid friendly. It kicked Trever and I in the rear. Especially Trever. He was carrying an extra 40 lbs. on his back. We were so happy to see the parking lot at the end. We are suppose to go camping in Sunset Beach Memorial Day weekend so we are really looking forward to that.

Taking a juice break. Check out his knee. The first battle wound of the weekend. We had to break out the first aid kit before the tent was up.

Trever putting up the tent. It was really comfortable. We had a queen size air mattress, really warm sleeping bags, and comfy pillows. I wasn't going to rough it as much as I had to.

View from our hike.

Resting by the campfire. Check out his knees. Fresh bandages and more scratches. He was a tough little guy.

Life in Pleasanton

It has been awhile since my last entry. This past weekend was really pretty. Saturday we went to the Livermore Wine Festival. Livermore is the next town over from Pleasanton. Hayden had a nice time. They had a whole street blocked off just for kids. Hayden especially loved the train. Sunday Trever and Hayden went to an Oakland A's game with his boss, Gus and son, Diego. I went to a Mother's Day Brunch with my mom's group.

We are hoping to go camping real soon. We have reservations at Sunset Beach for Memorial Day weekend. I think Hayden will have a great time playing on the beach. Hopefully the weather will stay nice.

We are going back home to Kentucky in June for Hayden's 2nd Birthday. I cannot believe my little guy will be 2. Makes me sad that he is growing up so quickly.

This was Hayden's first time riding by himself. He gave Trever and I a look at first, but I think he really enjoyed riding the train like a big boy!
