It is a beautiful Sunday afternoon. You are bike riding with your family. You ride behind your husband because you want to keep an eye on your son who is strapped to his bike in his little Co-Pilot seat. You dig down on your bike to catch up when all of a sudden you feel your foot slip. You try to catch your balance but look like a cow who is about to be tipped while sleeping. You put out your hand to brace your fall. You smash your elbow on the concrete sidewalk and your leg looks like it has been through a hamburger grinder. You scream out "OW!" Your husband turns around and says, "What happened?" All you can say is that you fell. You are in so much pain that you have to laugh because there are cars passing you by and people waiting at the bus stop staring at you. You start to snort because you are trying to laugh your pain away. As you go to get up you notice that your foot is still strapped into the bike foot holder but it is no longer attached to the bike. This was the cause of your fall.
Yes, this happened to me yesterday! Thank God we were on the sidewalk and not in the bike lane because I could have fallen out into traffic.
